WAPT Proxycache

WAPT Proxycache optimizes file distribution to WAPT agents.

It downloads files only when they are requested, stores them in a local cache, and serves them directly from this cache for future requests.

How it works

When an agent requests a file, Proxycache first checks whether it is already available locally.

  • If the file is present and up to date, it is served from the cache.
  • If it is missing or outdated, it is downloaded from the WAPT server, stored locally, and then sent to the agent.

Proxycache can handle multiple simultaneous downloads to process several requests in parallel.

Cache and cleanup

Files that have not been used for a certain period of time can be automatically removed to free up disk space.

This keeps the cache focused on files that are actually used by agents.

Integrated TFTP

The tis-proxycache package also includes an integrated TFTP service.

This service uses the same cache mechanism: files requested through TFTP are retrieved on demand, stored locally, and served faster on future requests.
